While my coaching business is not a Christian coaching business, I am a Christ-follower, and as such, when teachers come to me who are of faith, we explore the role that their faith plays in their teacher life. The teachers I work with who have a strong sense of faith – Christian or otherwise – feel a deep and fulfilling sense of purpose in their lives. That’s why I’ve collaborated with Miss Tierraney to create a new community for teachers of faith called, Faith Driven Educators.
When we are burning the candle at both ends as an educator, we have to feel purposeful, or else our life feels completely unfulfilling and exhausting. On the contrary, when we have a clear and intentional purpose for our work, there is a sense of fulfillment behind the effort and struggle.
I believe that one of the strongest drivers of our purpose can be our faith.
Unfortunately, for a lot of us public school teachers, we are sort of conditioned to see our work and our faith as separate silos in our lives that don’t cross.
When that’s the case, we miss an extraordinary opportunity to draw strength, purpose, clarity, and peace amidst a chaotic and difficult profession.
Instead, we as teachers can use our faith – Christian or otherwise – to drive our work with students and fuel our spirits when we are running on fumes.
God works in Mysterious Ways
I recently got an email from a fellow teacher on YouTube, Miss Tierraney, to see if we could collaborate. We set up a meeting and as soon as we got on the phone, I fell in love with her spirit. Have you ever had one of those moments where you just “clicked” with someone and you knew it was going to be a great match-up? Well, that’s what happened with us!
She and I talked story and shared laughter and wisdom. We are both trying to help teachers seek peace in teaching – her on the classroom management side of things and me on the heart/inner-world side of things.
We agreed that classroom management and inner-work is crucial to attaining peace and joy as a teacher. But we realized that there is a third part of this equation – faith.
We began discussing how faith is the cornerstone for each of us, and we happened upon a BIG idea – creating a ministry and community, separate from our blogs and businesses, for faith driven educators.
A Community Is Born
We created a community called Faith Driven Educators what will now serve teachers of faith in providing a place where they can get encouraged in their calling not only as a teacher, but as a daughter of Christ.
Our vision is that this community will fulfill this mission:
We exist to provide a source of community and support for teachers who are driven by their faith – even in public schools. We are a group of teachers who know that God created us for the mission of teaching and desire to lean on our faith to get through the difficulties of teaching. Knowing that God has placed us in charge of the intellectual and personal development of a group of young minds, can be both overwhelming and fulfilling. Teaching is a ministry – even in public schools. While we’re not always able to share our faith, we are certainly modeling it and living it. Our faith can build us up and give us strength for the crazy journey of teaching. In the end, we are daughters of Christ first and we strive to live, lead, and teach, as such!
Does that describe you??
Do you know that your desire to be a teacher is more than just a passion – it’s a divine calling?
Do you crave support and encouragement in your walk with the Lord and strength for the journey of teaching?
Have you been craving a place to connect with other like-minded teachers?
Then this is the place for you!! Join the community here.
Strength for the Journey
We all need strength for the journey – especially teachers. And if you aren’t a Christian, or you are far from your faith, just know that I would love to walk side by side with you in your journey – wherever you are. Community is one of the most important elements of our lives, and we need each other as both encouragers and accountability partners. That’s one of the benefits of having a coach – you get someone who will give you unconditional kindness who will listen and walk alongside you.
So what is it YOU need?
All my love,
